Les comparto un buen artículo (link aquí) de la revista Expansión sobre el papel de las Afores en el apoyo y financiamiento del ecosistema de emprendimiento en México. Muy en línea con un post que escribí hace unos pocos meses sobre este tema.
Es una temática que me emociona mucho, porque a través de los CKDs se crea un círculo virtuoso donde los ahorros de los trabajadores apoyan la creación de nuevas empresas, la creación de nuevos empleos y contribuyen al crecimiento de la economía, al mismo tiempo que los ahorros crecen en el tiempo via el rendimiento financiero de las inversiones. Mientras más exitosas son estos emprendimientos, mayores retornos financieros. Los CKDs permiten que los trabajadores participen en estos emprendimientos – via las Afores – de la misma forma que grandes inversionistas pueden hacerlo. Se genera una democratización en el acceso a los emprendimientos.
I want to share the IFC and the World Economic Forum process to select 50 outstanding startups in Latin America and the Caribbean for participation in a special program during WEF’s annual regional meeting in São Paulo. The World Economic Forum on Latin America will take place in São Paulo, Brazil, from 13 to 15 March 2018.
The Forum’s UpLink initiative consists of a unique community and digital platform where startups can interact with global peers, multinationals, governments, universities, investors, and next-generation technology solutions. Of the 50 startups, 25 will be selected from countries throughout Latin America and the Caribbean and 25 will be specifically from Brazil.
The selected Latin American startups will join the UpLink community of entrepreneurs who are enabling a societal and technological transformation. The selected startups will join the Global UpLink community as regional representatives and, as a first step, will be invited to take part in a tailored programme at the World Economic Forum on Latin America. At the meeting, they will have the opportunity to network with influential policy-makers from the region, as well as leading chief executives, and have access to the Forum’s network to partner with members on future projects in the region.
The deadline for entrepreneurs from Latin America to apply is 5 February 2018. You can apply here. It could be a great opportunity for great Latam startups.
What do you do currently?
I currently have the opportunity of serving as Science and Innovation Assistant for the Newton Fund at the British Embassy in Mexico City, where we focus on delivering the UK assistance for development in Mexico to promote socioeconomic development through science and innovation. Additionally, I work as a lecturer for undergraduate students in project management at Universidad del Valle de Mexico. Continue reading
San Carlos is a small beach town in the Sea of Cortez in the northern Mexican state of Sonora. It has striking landscapes in a combination of arid mountains facing the sea. It is not touristic developed like other beach resorts in Mexico, which gives it a different feeling and charm. Some people, like me, would enjoy that there are no Starbucks, McDonalds or any other fast food chain! Continue reading
