We’re Back: Scaling the Latam Climate Ecosystem

At Dalus Capital, we focus our investments on three specific verticals: Inclusion (fintech, healthtech, and edtech), Business Productivity (AI and SaaS), and Climate Innovation. While capital is a fundamental part of the equation for all three, we realized early on that climate innovation needed something extra—a dedicated space to build a community from the ground up. That is why we created the Latam Climate Innovation Summit in 2022. We wanted to provide a central meeting point for an ecosystem that was finally ready to take off.

Mapping Green Frontiers: The Next Edition of Our Latam Climate Innovation Startup Radar 🌿

Two years ago, we launched the Latam Climate Innovation Startup Radar 🌍, aiming to spotlight the vibrant ecosystem within our region and, hopefully, foster its growth. Today, I’m thrilled to announce that our Startup Radar has received a significant upgrade! We have reached almost 300 startups🚀!

At Dalus Capital, we’re firm believers in the transformative power of innovation, especially when it’s directed toward our planet’s well-being 🌱. That’s why we’ve dedicated time and effort to enhance our Climate Innovation Startup Radar.

In this edition, we’ve refined the radar’s taxonomy, introducing key improvements to sharpen its precision and relevance. Moreover, we’re transparently sharing the logic and insights behind each category. From cutting-edge technologies to intelligent sustainable solutions, we’re revealing it all 🧠.

We just gave our Latam Climate Innovation Startup Radar a major update. You might have seen the previous version when we released it for the first time last year. It’s a cool tool that helps map out startups that are working on solutions to combat climate change in Latin America. These startups are broken down into four main categories: AgTech, Energy, Green Consumer, and Mobility. You can grab the high-res version of the radar by clicking here.

The new version of the radar includes 191 startups, which is a huge jump from the 147 we had before – a 30% increase. If you know of any other startups that should be on our radar, make sure to let us know by filling out this form.

Latin America Climate Innovation Startup Radar and other resources

I am happy to share several resources we put together at Dalus Capital for the Climate Innovation space in Latin America. This is an emerging ecosystem and we hope these initiatives will help its development.

  • The first Climate Innovation Startup Radar for Latin America. This is the first version with the startups in the region we have identified. Feel free to download and distribute this startup radar. If you know of other startups in Latin America that we should include, please share them with us here.
  • We also created a collaborative Latam Climate wiki that you can check out here: latamclimatewiki.com. Also open to all collaborations and suggestions on what to include.

A few weeks ago, I was invited by Jason Rissman to participate in his podcast Invested in Climate, together with two climate tech entrepreneurs – José Manuel Moller and Fernando Ocaña. José Manuel is the founder and CEO of Algramo, one of the circular economy startups in which we have invested from Dalus. Fernando is developing an electric Tuk Tuk for Mexico City.

First Latam Climate Innovation Summit

The Dalus Capital team organized the first edition of the Latam Climate Innovation Summit in Mexico City last week. We partnered with several sponsors including the U.S. State Department, Amazon for Startups, INCmty, Tecnologico de Monterrey, Grupo Habita, Buna Coffee, Cultura Colectiva, and Daikin. Special shoutout to Dalus team members Chris Down, Eugenia Rendon, and Jimena Buitron, who led the effort.

Climate change represents an existential challenge for humanity today. The future of civilization is at risk if collectively we do not achieve a net-zero world. At Dalus, we are strong believers that multiple solutions are required including many tech-based that already exist today or that will need to be developed.
