I am very happy to announce that as of today, our Fund II is live with the issuing of a CKD, short for “Certificado de Capital de Desarrollo” – a security issued in the Mexican Stock Exchange through which Mexican Pension Funds can invest in Private Equity, Growth Equity and Venture Capital funds.
We raised MX$950 million Mexican pesos (approximately $50 million dollars) through an investment led by Pensionissste, one of the most dynamic pension funds in Mexico. This CKD is part of a total investment program worth $100 million dollars.
This capital will be invested in companies with high growth potential differentiating through innovation in technology and/or business models. Our aim is to trigger and accelerate each company’s growth and expansion. This fund, in addition to generating new jobs in high-growth sectors, will enable the advancement of industries in Mexico that have already been consolidated in developed markets.
My partner Rogelio de los Santos and I are the co-founders and Managing Partners of Dalus Capital. We are also partners in the first fund – Alta Ventures Mexico Fund I – where we have led most of the investments in Mexico and Latin America, and where we continue to manage a portfolio that includes some great companies like Clip, MFM, kubo.financiero, Nuve, Technisys and Wanderu.
With this new fund we seek to invest in companies led by strong entrepreneurial teams demonstrating passion and business acumen, with an important growth potential and differentiation based on technological, product and/or business model innovation. We want companies with proven products which have demonstrated they can attract clients and generate revenues.
We will continue to focus in high-growth sectors within the Mexican economy, including, but not limited to, financial services and fintech, high-value business services, health, education, clean energy, software, internet and digital security.
The fund will provide the capital these companies require to grow while supporting them with our business and financial experience and access to extensive networks in the region and globally. Our objective is to carry out equity investments of between $1 million and $10 million dollars per company.
Our team is actively seeking high-growth companies requiring resources to scale. You can contact me with opportunities through this blog (or Twitter or LinkedIn, or … – with so many technologies there are no excuses for not contacting) or send an email to the following email address: firstname.lastname@example.org.
We are ready to help the best and most innovative companies in Mexico to grow!
