What do you do currently?
I’m General Partner at Jaguar Ventures and President of the Mexican Association of Online Sales.

How and when did you get involved with the Mexican entrepreneurial ecosystem?
I’ve been an entrepreneur since being a kid, selling sandwiches at the school bus. In college I also had a business with two other friends but more formally it would be on 1999 when I was lucky enough to open and manage MercadoLibre in Mexico.

How would you describe the ecosystem in Mexico?
Improving but yet in look of relevant success stories both for entrepreneurs and investors.

What do you expect in the next 12 months?
More relevant Series A and B investments, particularly in FinTech, like the ones we already saw in Clip, Konfio and Kueski.

What are the main challenges?
Lack of talent driven to the Entrepreneurial Ecosystem.

What change or result would bring the greatest benefits for the ecosystem?
Local Entrepreneurial Hero stories that can drive more talent and investments into the ecosystem.

Describe your typical day
I start doing exercise, reading the news (Economist Espresso, Reforma and NYT) and playing Lumosity, followed by breakfast with an entrepreneur/ prospective investment. Afterwards meeting with one of our portfolio companies. Lunch with another entrepreneur followed by a brief (very very brief) look into my inbox. At night I might possibly go out for drinks with more entrepreneurs, or will take my bulldogs for a walk. Will finish the day meditating using HeadSpace and reading something in my Kindle.

Who is your favorite entrepreneur?
Elon Musk.

A recent book do you recommend?
The latest I read is a classic and great book regarding management: High Output Management by Andy Grove.

Smartphone, tablet, laptop or desktop?
Smartphone.

iOS or Android?
iOS.

Favorite App?
Kindle.

Favorite social network?
Facebook.

Ideal vacation?
One in which I’m with loved ones in a new place, learning something new. Last one was actually learning to surf with my 8-year-old daughter in Sayulita.

What are your goals for the next 12 months?
My professional goals would be to keep helping Jaguar portfolio companies, to keep promoting ecommerce in Mexico and to keep helping the Mexican Entrepreneurial ecosystem.

One word that describes you?
Brave.
