What do you do currently?
Partner at Investo, a seed capital fund based in San Francisco and Mexico City.
We help startups find top programmers or start their international expansion in the Latam region.
We also provide seed capital and other strategic advice throughout our partnership with the startups.
How and when did you get involved with the Mexican entrepreneurial ecosystem?
In 2010 I co-founded MiOrden.com. At the end of 2011 we sold the company to SinDelantal.com and realized that we lacked strategic advice during our venture. So, end 2012 we decided to create a VC that would help other founders.
How would you describe the ecosystem in Mexico?
In progress. It has changed a lot, probably more than I would have dreamed when I was an entrepreneur. 🙂
But there is still a long way to go…
What do you expect in the next 12 months?
More startups raising big rounds from big VCs like Clip / Kueski and Rappi.
What are the main challenges?
Patience, work & humility. There is still a lack of experience (entrepreneurs & VCs).
What change or result would bring the greatest benefits for the ecosystem?
If we can change the culture of Mexican corporations, and make them understand the importance of acqui-hires we could see more local exits. The result would be more capital to the ecosystem.
Describe your typical day
What I love about my job is that there is no typical day 🙂
The only thing I try to do every day is to have breakfast with my son and bring him to school.
Who is your favorite entrepreneur?
My father, he had to quit school at the age of 16 and became a self-made entrepreneur.
A recent book do you recommend?
Originals: How Non-Conformists Move the World by Adam Grant.
Smartphone, tablet, laptop or desktop?
Smartphone.
iOS or Android?
iOS.
Favorite App?
WhatsApp (most used).
Favorite social network?
FB.
Ideal vacation?
Visit new cities with my family.
What are your goals for the next 12 months?
Our goal is to close our second fund by August. My goal to enjoy every day and focus 100% on the journey.

Persistent.
